Obituary of Norman Lee Brown
Norman Lee Brown Jr., beloved husband, and cherished friend, passed away on April 15, 2023, at the age of 77. Norman was born March 10, 1946, in Lawaan, Eastern Samar Philippines. During is adulthood he joined the military service and was assigned to work at Veterans Memorial Hospital in the telecommunication department. He also worked in Saudi Arabia before coming to United States in the ‘90’s. He lived in San Diego before coming to Houston in October 1997. Norman’s first job was at Compaq company, and later at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
After 13 years of service at MDAAC, he retired and enjoyed his golden years with his loving family and friends. Throughout his life, Norman was known for his kindness, generosity, and his love for dance. A well-liked and respected member of his community made him a beloved figure among all who knew him. He is one of the organizing members and a past president of SamarLeyte Texas.
One of Norman’s passions was ballroom dancing, and what he loved most to dance is the “Tango” a romantic dance about love and relationship. Most of his happiest moments with his wife involved tango music and he requested that tango music be played at his memorial service. Being an enthusiast of ballroom dancing, Norman was always ready to share his passion for dance with anyone who wanted to learn. He will be remembered for his genuine kindness and his caring nature. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends.
Norman is survived by his loving wife Dr Susan Gavan Brown, who described him as “super nice” and “caring person”, and his beautiful stepchildren, JR and wife Chona, JV, Johan and wife Mai, and Janel and husband Dave.
Norman’s legacy of kindness and passion for life will live on in the memories of those who knew him, and his presence will be sorely missed. His life was a shining example of love, kindness, and dedication. He will always be remembered with fondness and admiration by those who knew him.
