Obituary of Joan Weimer
JOAN WEIMER, 92, of Pearland, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023.
Joan is survived by her son, Fred E. Weimer and wife Nanette; her daughter, Cynthia Simpson and husband James; grandchildren Alicia Addison (Ryan), Clay Weimer (Danica), Hayden Simpson (Rheagan), Heath Suttle (Cynthia), and Stephanie Bateman; great grandchildren Case Weimer, Hayley and Morgan Simpson, Patrick and Rebecca Addison, Kyler Crutcher, Sloan Bateman, and Luke and Benjamin Suttle. She is predeceased by her loving husband Harold Weimer; parents Malone and Orie McWhorter; and sister LaVaughn Bean.
Joan was born in Jacksonville, Texas on September 24, 1930. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas in June 1948. On September 2, 1949, she married Harold Weimer at Bethany Christian Church in Houston.
Joan was a homemaker for many years when her two children were young. After the family moved to Brookside Village in 1963, she went to work as a secretary for Pearland Independent School District (PISD). She worked at PISD for over 25 years and retired in January 1996.
Joan was an accomplished artist and painted items to sell at local craft shows. She also enjoyed shopping, gardening, and feeding the birds in her backyard. She and Harold loved spending time with family and friends at their beach house in Sargent. During retirement, they enjoyed going on cruises and travelling in their motorhome.
Joan was a longtime member of Shadycrest Baptist Church in Pearland. She served on the Benevolence Committee and volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels in the Pearland area for many years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Shadycrest Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tyler McKinney officiating. Interment to follow in SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Meals on Wheels or Shadycrest Baptist Church.
