Obituary of Loma Alline Stone

Please share a memory of Loma to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Loma Bohannan Stone was born on December 31, 1930, in Malone, Texas, to Charlie and Jessie Bohannan, and passed away November 19, 2023, at the age of 92, in Houston Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; son Ricky Stone; and six siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Sandra Stone; brother Robert Bohannan and wife, Linda; sister Lendy Ann Nelson; grandchildren Shannon Marie Stone and husband, Shawn Davis, Nicole Holley and husband, Steven; great grandchildren Chloe Davis, Sydney Davis, Brady Davis, Marriella Holley, Juliet Holley, Gabriel Holley, and a host of many other family and friends.

Loma was from a family of nine children, six brothers and two sisters whom she loved very much. When she was young, she had a mischievous tendency when playing with her brothers on the farm in Butler, Texas. As a teenager she moved to Houston to work and lived with her brother. She loved Houston and wanted her children to live and get their education there. Loma became a grocery checker at Safeway and retired from there after 22 years. She loved her work and meeting all her customers at Safeway. Loma had so many friends at Safeway and the Sagemont community that many specifically wanted her to be the one to check them out. She loved the customers, and they loved her. Years later, she could be out and about the city and she would be stopped by former customers who knew her just for a conversation. It was amazing how many times she would run into former customers throughout the city. She loved to read her true crime novels but most of all she loved to read the Bible and listen to her Ray Walker hymns on her CDs almost daily. Whenever there was a need for a family or child, she and her daughter would take on a project to purchase food and clothes at any time during the year but especially during the holidays as she loved shopping for those less fortunate and would help any way she could. When her son developed Multiple Sclerosis, she became his caregiver. She loved the Lord and was an active member at Pearland Church of Christ until her health declined. She shared her love of the Lord with her children during their lives. It was the most important task in her life to make sure that her children had a solid Christian foundation and to know it was the most important thing in their life. Loma was a loving, caring, funny, godly Christian and she taught her children that no matter what happened in their life, to do the right thing. Her faith was her number one priority. Next to God, she cherished her family and friends, especially her six grandchildren, beloved daughter, and son as well as her sisters and brothers. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a little laugh that would make anyone smile. Those that knew and loved Loma will forever miss her, however, find comfort that she is no longer suffering and is now truly at peace.
