Obituary of Jose "Eddie" Carrales
Jose Eduardo “Eddie” Carrales passed away on January 26, 2024 in his home in Pearland, Texas. He left this world with his beloved wife holding his hand. Eddie was born on November 21, 1959 in Falfurrias, Texas to Jose Elifalet and Maria Viola Rivera Carrales. He was raised in Premont Texas.
Eddie first met Martha at age 7. Their friendship grew throughout their school years until Martha finally agreed to date him. Eddie and Martha were married on February 16, 1980. Their strong friendship continued throughout their 43 years of marriage.
Eddie was a man that took pride in the work he did, particularly his time as a welder and steam tracer. He learned through listening and action. He prided himself on the fact that he passed along his knowledge to others as a leader and mentor throughout his life.
Most importantly Eddie was a family man. From the birth of children, his life's focus was to create memories, sharing with them everything from sports to cars to music to the Dallas Cowboys. Eddie gave his family the precious gift of his time and was a supportive and present father. With the birth of his granddaughter, Eddie did it all again, traveling to every playground in sight, teaching every sport, and spending his evenings watching his “favorite” movies.
As a surprise to himself, Eddie traveled the United States and Europe. He drank beer in Germany, made fun of the French in Paris, and ate the largest steak of his life in Italy. Eddie had a passion for history and marveled at walking amidst places he thought he would only see on TV. At home, Eddie shared his mother’s passion for plants and his father’s passion for tinkering.
Eddie was strong in his faith in God and did not let the cancer define him. Never losing his sense of humor and never losing his passion for his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Martha A. Carrales; son Jose Eduardo “Eddie” Carrales II; daughter Erica Alicia Bettenhausen; son-in-law Joseph Bettenhausen; granddaughter Megan Grace Carrales; his brothers George Carrales (Mericelda), Johnny Carrales (Kathy), and Steve Carrales; sister Alma Adamez (Randy Lindeman); sister-in-law Sandra Carrales; and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and other dear family. He is preceded in death by his parents Jose Elifalet and Maria Viola Rivera Carrales; and brothers Joe Ely Carrales and Mark Carrales.
