To John’s family, I knew John well my cousin and I went swimming in his pool. Play Football at Palm Springs Elementary field. I remember John coming down the block on a unicycle. Like neighborhood friends we just kind of drifted in different directions. My condolences

Our journey through life is brief. However, I was blessed to have met John and his family while stationed at the Air Force Academy. The most important thing to me is that I could call him a friend. I cherish the time we spent as colleagues at the Academy. John would stay in touch with me via texting or a phone call. I know he was proud of the men his sons had become. Plus, the grandchildren were a tremendous joy to him. Not sure why, but John always seemed to greet me as "old man". I should have told you that my birth year was after yours! It really is difficult to summarize the example he set for me in so many areas of life. Blue skies, my friend!

Uncle John will be missed by the Lewis Family. I’ll never forget how patiently he taught Libby to solve a rubix cube so fast. And his stories about parasailing. A bright mind and a gentle soul. His memory will live on in his 3 wonderful sons.

I met you at 16 years of age. A time where I thought I knew everything. You always welcomed me into your home, sitting me down to talk for what felt like hours. You provided stories about your life and talked with me about mine. You taught me math on your white board and even thought I had no clue what you were saying most of the time. You always offered words of guidance and of wisdom. When I found out I was becoming a father at 19 years of age you were always so kind and encouraging, speaking to me about how to be a father. I thank you for everything you offered as I know you played a part in the man I am today. I look forward to seeing you again one day and hearing you say, “Hey, what’s up Dave.”

I didn't work closely with John, and only casually knew him at work, but he was always friendly and helpful any time I met him...
