Obituary of Randy Neal Riffe

Randy Riffe, 58, of La Porte, passed away Monday June 24^th, 2024. He is preceded in death by his mother, Claudette Oswalt Riffe. Left to cherish Randy’s memory are his father, Roland Riffe, sister, Rhonda Riffe Johnson and husband Greg, along with a host of other family and friends.

Randy was born in Fort Hood, Texas, and raised in the La Porte/Deer Park area, attending La Porte ISD schools. Randy was an ASE Certified Master Automotive technician. He worked in many automotive shops, and for a sign company as a fleet technician. Randy cherished many friendships that spanned decades.

Randy was a fisherman who came by it naturally. All through his mom's pregnancy she would meet his dad as he got off work and go to a creek that ran through West Fort Hood. While pregnant with Randy they climbed up and down several cliffs to fish. Of course, she also ate a lot of fish while pregnant. They did this up to the day of her 8th month of pregnancy. By the time Randy was 7 years old, he could stand on the boat seat and drive the boat, as well as navigate to all the reefs, rigs, or other fishing spots in Galveston Bay.

The family realized Randy had a keen knowledge of all things mechanical from a very young age. He would work alongside his dad on cars, trucks, lawnmowers, etc. He learned much from his dad until he was about 16 yrs. old, then his knowledge surpassed his dad's. Randy's motto was "If it's broke, I can fix it". That went for anything at all. You might see him one day working on a dishwasher, the next day on a Mercedes Benz or a large crane truck. Randy will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Services for Randy will be held Monday, July 1^st, at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 S 3^rd St in La Porte, Texas. The family will receive guest from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM with the service beginning at 11:00.
