Obituary of Marguaret Ann Moore

Please share a memory of Marguaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Ann Moore, 79, of La Porte, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024. She was born Marguaret Ann Parson on January 14, 1945, in Pasadena Hospital, Pasadena, Texas, to Clementene and John Parson. She was the second oldest.  Ann was raised in La Porte, where she graduated from La Porte High School. At just 14 years old, she met the love of her life, Bryan Moore, and they were married on June 5, 1965, beginning a beautiful and enduring partnership of nearly 60 years.

Ann’s son, Lacy Moore, born in 1970, was her pride and joy. She poured her love and devotion into being a wonderful mother, treasuring every moment they shared. Lacy’s girlfriend, Charlene Davis, also held a special place in Ann’s heart. Ann treated her nephews Eric Adsit and Anthony Kuchinski as if they were her own sons, and she cherished Anthony’s wife, Michelle, like a daughter. She adored her grandnephews Anthony and Tristan and grandnieces Aubrey, Abigail, and Annabelle, loving them as her own grandchildren.

Ann had a passion for travel, particularly to Estes Park, Colorado, a place that held deep meaning for her and her family. The first trip was for her honeymoon in 1965.  Then when Lacy was just 3 years old, the family would tow their travel trailer to Estes Park every summer. This cherished tradition continued until Lacy started college in College Station, at which point they transitioned to staying in a condo. Estes Park remained a beloved destination until her health no longer allowed it. She also loved visiting Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, a tradition she began over ten years ago and was able to make one last time this past November, as well as trips to Hawaii and browsing Christmas stores for inspiration.

When Lacy started school at Texas A&M University, Ann proudly embraced the Aggie spirit. She quickly became a devoted fan, and for years after Lacy graduated, she and her family cherished attending Aggie football games at Kyle Field. Those Saturdays spent cheering for the Aggies became some of her most treasured memories.  She didn’t just watch Aggie football but watched all Aggie sports.  She also became an avid Houston Astros fan.  She didn’t miss too many of their games on TV.

A woman of faith, she was baptized at First Baptist Church in La Porte.  Ann loved teaching Sunday School to toddlers, sharing her kind heart and guiding young children in their first steps of faith.

She also cherished being called “Aunt Ann” by her nieces, nephews, and their children, embracing the role with joy and love.

Ann found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, like enjoying a good burger. One of her favorite places to eat was Koppe Bridge in College Station, where she shared many memorable meals with loved ones. She loved Colonial House of Sandwiches in La Porte.

She also enjoyed listening to George Strait, whose music brought her great joy.  She attended his last show at the Astrodome along with many other of his concerts.

She enjoyed the Christmas movies on Hallmark and the TV was almost always on either Hallmark or HGTV, even later in life when her vision was to the point she couldn’t see.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, Clementene and John Parson, and her brother, Doug Parson.

She is survived by her husband, Bryan Moore; her son, Lacy Moore, and his girlfriend, Charlene Davis; her brother Doug’s wife Jeanette; her brother, Bobby Parson, and his wife, Jennifer; her sister, Janet Barry; her nephews Eric Adsit and Anthony Kuchinski; Anthony’s wife, Michelle; and her cherished grandnephews and grandnieces. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, their husbands, and their children.

Ann Moore will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her love of family, her joyful celebrations of life, her faith, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.  And her son could not have asked for a better mom.  She always said her family wouldn’t know what to do without her when she was gone.  Once again, she was right.
