Obituary of Hortencia Garcia Sosa

Hortencia Garcia Sosa, 80, passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2011 with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Alicia Garcia; brother, Oscar Garcia; and sister, Oralia Cavazos. Hortencia is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Jose Sosa; daughter, Linda Garza and her husband, Leonel; brothers, Ruben Garcia, Rodrigo Garcia and Horacio Garcia; sisters, Rosalba Garza, Alicia Lazos, and Maria de Jesus Cortez; grandchildren, Eliud Garza and Victoria Garza; and a host of many other family and friends. Hortencia was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gardening, spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow. Hortencia was affectionately to all of her family as either Mi Tia “Tenche” or to the grandchildren as “Mima.” She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. The family would also like to thank their dear friend Carmen Estrada for all her love and support during this journey in caring for the Sosa family. They would also like to thank Adis Martinez with Christus Hospice for all her dedicated care and service to Mrs. Sosa. A Visitation for Hortencia will be on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm recited by Deacon Cruz Trujillo at Clayton Funeral Home at 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church at 2209 Old Alvin Rd, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Father Armondo Ibanez officiating.
