William Frank Lang, Sr., 84, passed away on June 22, 2011 surrounded by his wife and immediate family. He was born in Orangefield, Texas. Bill served in the US Army and was in occupied Germany at the end of World War II. He was retired from Tesoro Corporation. He lived in Odessa, Texas for almost 40 years where he was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. At the time of his death, he was living in Pearland, Texas where he was a member of Crosspoint Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Odus and Helen Mae Brewer Lang, and his brothers Arthur Jr., Everett and Fred. Bill is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Billie Blanche Northcutt Lang; children Tomi Calmes and husband Michael of Lubbock, Texas, Bill Lang, Jr. and wife Michelle of Kingwood, Texas, Steven Lang and wife Jill currently residing in Singapore, and Kim Layne and husband Robert of Pearland, Texas; grandchildren Clint, Kyle (and wife Morgan), Cory (and wife Katy), Kenna (and husband Brandon), Michalea, Clinton, Christopher, Laura (and husband Hal), Colton, Cameron and Chloe; great-grandchildren Corin, Leah, McKenzie, Maddox, Lily and Kasen; brother Howard Lang and wife Delores of Austin, Texas; sisters-in law Laverne Lang and Mary Lang; “heart son” Bill Wirwahn; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill, also known as “Granddad”, “G”, “Big G”, and “Big Nick”, was known for his big hugs and his big heart. He had a joyful spirit and loved to laugh and make people laugh. He loved spending time with his family, and he had a strong faith in Jesus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Crosspoint Church (Building Fund), or Star of Hope. The family extends their deep appreciation and love for the staff of Windsong Village – Linda, Eric, Peter. Connie, Rebecca, Amy, and Tracy in particular. You showered Bill and all of us with your loving and compassionate care, and we are forever grateful. You have become family to us. Visitation will be held at Crosspoint Church (1134 Old Alvin Road, Pearland, Texas) on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Luling City Cemetery in Luling, Texas.
