James R. Wyche, 76, passed away on July 30, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bertha Wyche; and son, Ronald Wyche. James was survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Wyche; brother, Larry Wayne Wyche and his wife Julia; and a host of many other family and friends. James served his country in the U.S. Army and was a specialist during the Korean conflict from October 1954 to September 1956. He operated a radar unit while stationed at Ft. Bliss, in El Paso, Texas. Upon completion of his military service, James returned to Houston, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston. James then spent the next 34 years working for Tuboscope and at the time of his retirement was the Production Management Supervisor of the oil well inspection equipment. James loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed taking his son Ronnie on camping trips to hunt and fish as he was growing up. James and Barbara were avid travelers and enjoyed cruises to a variety of places including their last trip in 2007 to Alaska. They also enjoyed many activities with their Nifty Fifties group at First Church of Pearland. James will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation will take place on Monday, August 1, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 10:00 am at First Church of Pearland, 180 E. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Pastor Ken Gurley and Pastor Barclay Barnett officiating. Interment will take place at SouthPark Cemetery immediately following the service.
