Obituary of Edward John Koncaba

Edward John Koncaba Jr., 69, passed away on November 27, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Adela Koncaba. Eddie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna Koncaba; sons, Dwayne Koncaba and his wife, Tina, Steven Koncaba and his wife, Mary; daughter, Kristi Koncaba and former son-in-law, Douglas Webb; sister, Judy Brandt and her husband, Larry; sister-in-law, Jane Sturm and her husband, Leonard; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Eddie joined the United States Army directly after graduating from high school and served his country for more than 26 years in the Army and army Reserves. He also spent 9 years working for the Department of Defense in civil service. Eddie was a proud and patriotic American who retired as a Sgt. Major. He was a devoted husband and father who was active in his church and with the Knights of Columbus. Sir Knight Edward Koncaba was an Officer and a Guard with the Knights of Columbus Council 8960 and also the Faithful Navigator for Bishop Wendelin J. Nold Assembly 2084. Eddie and Donna enjoyed traveling the country, going on cruises and spending time with their family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation for Eddie will be on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 7:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. The funeral service will be on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, TX 77581 with Father Reginald Nesvadba officiating. A private interment with military honors will be held at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eddie’s honor to the blood bank of your choice.
