Dear Mrs. Young and family,
I only now found out about your husband and father passing. While I only knew him for about a year at Fort Sheridan, I have fond memories of him. He has a good sense of humor. In reading his obituary, I can see why he made a fine Jr. ROTC Instructor after retiring from the Army. God BlessISG Young.
Fraternally,
SFC(R) Patrick Cullen

I lost track of Leon when I departed Fort Sam Houston in 1987, however, he left an indelible mark on me and I’m certain all whom served with him. I regret not keeping track of him earlier but when a friend SSG Dudley Kirby posted this link to Facebook’s 5th Army Page’s querry about his status, was the first concrete contact I’ve found, thanks Dudley! Leon, your are missed and as I now know as a fact, you left your wonderful positive mark on so many more. God Bless you, your family and all those you’ve touched. See yoin that Band in the sky! I have very fond memories of Mr. Leon and his wife Mrs. Young. They ran a summer camp for several years where I attended as a child. Mr. Young would take us fishing down at the creek, walk us around the property while we rode on a horse, or drive the bus on field trips. I know he will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

My daddy was a wonderful man in many ways, especially to his family. He touched others lifes to than just his families. The stories that were told to us in his second life as we call it, are vey touching. I will remember all the great things he did as a husband to my mother, father to me, and a grandfather to my children. I will remember the stories he shared with me about my kids when he spent time with them.
Daddy was an avid reader the irony of that is I’m a Reading teacher.
My daddy may have been strict, but all intentions were good.
I miss my daddy and love him so much.
I will not say good bye, it’s until we meet again.
Love you daddy!

Sarge will certainly be missed. All those years with the Pearland Community Band bring back fond memories of how he loved his music. And he was a fine musician and friend. He is in paradise now playing his Trombone with the Eternal father.

Sarge, you will be missed greatly, but never forgotten. Playing with you in the Pearland Community Band and now the San Jacinto College Band has been a pure pleasure. You were always cheerful and excited about playing music. You also held us to a high standard of playing. If we played something wrong, you would let us know. Thank you for all the memories.
