Anthony Clarence De Benedetto, 67, passed away on February 6, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony De Benedetto and Maria Garcia; brother, Jesus Garcia and sister, Dolores Espinoza. Anthony is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Margaret De Benedetto; son, Anthony G. De Benedetto and wife, Martha; daughter, Gina De Benedetto Dunlap and husband, Richard; brother, Jose Garcia and wife, Marina; sisters, San Juanita Avila, and husband, Miguel, Carmen Woywod and husband, George, and Rosie G. Rios; grandchildren, Maegan, Nyssa, Nathaniel, Anthony, Benjamin, and Gabriela, to which he was affectionately known as “Pops”; and a host of other family and friends. Anthony was very patriotic and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Texas A & I University in Kingsville with a Bachelor’s degree in History. Anthony loved the outdoors, spending time fishing or playing golf, playing the guitar and singing, or going for drives with Margaret to the beach. He was a man of very strong faith and enjoyed sharing the gospel in the Valley as well as in San Antonio during his younger years. Anthony translated the Thompson Chain Reference Bible Study Guides to Spanish over the course of a three month period. Through his work, he helped to bring the gospel to many Spanish-speaking Christians. Anthony was an accomplished martial artist in Wu-Wei Gung Fu where he attained his black sash and the title of Sifu. Anthony will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation for Anthony will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 beginning at 10:00 am and funeral service beginning at 11:30 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. Interment with military honors will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
