Obituary of Donald John Bennett

Donald John Bennett, 70, passed away on July 23, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Katie Bennett. Donald is survived by his sons, Gregory Bennett and wife, Leanna, Scott Bennett; daughter, Tamira Burback and husband, Jason; brothers, Jim Bennett, Bill Bennett and wife, Sonya, Bob Bennett and wife, Kimberly, Mark Bennett and wife, Nan; sisters, Kathleen Witkowski and husband, Ronald, Susan Curtis and husband, John, Karen Kersh and husband, Brooks; grandchildren, Nicholas and Noah Burback, Chad, Chance, Dillon, Gavin and Olivia Bennett, Andrè and Julia Guerra; and great grandchild, Rome Bennett; and a host of other family and friends. Donald was a successful restaurateur who owned more than 20 restaurants over the years and served as President of the Houston Restaurant Association in 1969. He enjoyed a good game of Texas Hold ‘em. His easy-going, laid back personality meant that he never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. Don loved his family dearly and enjoyed the many names they had for him, from Donnie as a brother, to Don as a friend, to Daddy for his children, to the title he was proudest of, Papa, to his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation for Donald will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 27, 2012 at the funeral home with Bishop Darrell Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
