Caroline Ruth Moberly, 92, passed away on August 18, 2012. She is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Grace Kollin; husband, Flavel Benjamin Moberly Jr.; and son, Don Russell Moberly. Caroline is survived by her daughter, Eileen Marie Moberly-Peterson; grandchildren, Robert Peterson (Jill), Kelli Holt (Gary), Kerri Yanagihara (Daniel), Flay Peterson (Jennifer), Jay Peterson (Stephanie), Kami Hatch (Greg), Scott Moberly (Pam), Alison Hixon (Roger), Melissa Cuillard (Steve), Dawnelle Hodge (Grady), Jamie Burningham (Brett), Ryan Moberly (Kristal); forty-one great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Caroline began her life on a farm in Richland, New York. Her family then moved to Hollywood, California and then on to Inglewood, California where they had a turkey farm on Prairie Avenue. She lived there until after graduation from Leuzinger High School. At age 21, Caroline married Flavel and they spent 62 wonderful years together. This longevity in marriage was attributed to their love and dedication to one another. Caroline and Flavel, with their children, loved going to Yosemite National Park and enjoyed camping adventures every summer. After their retirement, they built a home in the mountains of Bass Lake, California near Yosemite. Their camping traditions continued with a change of pace as their travels took them frequently to Death Valley, California. Caroline was also an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. “Grandma”, as she was affectionately known, will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
A committal service for Caroline will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Chimes at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.
