Lawrence Paul Cobble, Jr., 88, passed away on October 22, 2012 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was a resident of Pearland for more than 44 years. Larry was born in Springfield, Missouri October 1, 1924 to parents Martha Moore and Lawrence Paul Cobble, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Carolyn Ann Cobble. Larry is survived by his loving wife of more than 64 years, Helen Dunbar, daughter Beverly & husband Carl Goodwin, son Jimmy and wife Laurie Cobble; grandchildren Eric and wife Naomi Goodwin, Denise Goodwin and Shawn McMahan, Jamie Cobble and Alex Alvarado, and Ethan Cobble; great-grandchildren Ayden McMahan, Ava Goodwin, Brandon Rodriguez, Adriana, Ava and Xander Alvarado. He is also survived by his Niece Mary McCaleb Franklin and husband Tom, Nephew Howard Harper and wife Shirley as well as numerous other beloved family and friends. A veteran of WWII, he served with the Naval Seabees, 8th Special Naval Construction Battalion stationed in The Aleutians. Larry and Helen Marie Dunbar married on May 5, 1948 in Houston, Texas. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers – Local 716 and worked as a Master Electrician and Electrical Inspector for City of Houston for 27 years. Larry was active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years. He was Scoutmaster of Pearland Troop 464 from 1968 – 1973 and continued to serve the Bay Area Council. Larry was a recipient of The Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pearland; Walter M. Pierson Masonic Lodge (Houston) and later C F Spencer Masonic Lodge (Pearland); and Chinar Grotto. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The graveside service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012, 2:00 PM at Ashby Cemetery in Matagorda County, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lawrence’s honor to the Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
