Obituary of Joseph Murrell Rybiski

Joseph Murrell Rybiski, 71, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Lorraine Rybiski. Murrell is survived by his loving wife, Gail Rybiski; son, Paul Rybiski; daughter, Amy Tully; step-daughters, Darlene King and her husband, Tom, Michele Eglinger and her life partner, Angela; brother, Chuck Rybiski and his wife, Dianna; grandchildren, Drew, Emily and Dillon Tully, Kayln McLain; and a host of other family and friends. Murrell graduated from Lake Charles High School and went on to McNeese State University. In 1959, he was a member of the 440 Relay State championship team. In 1963, he married Annette Hallmark. Murrell went on to graduate from the University of Southern Louisiana with a degree in Graphic Design. A proud patriot, he served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He served his last year as an officer based at Osana Air Force Base, South Korea where Annette and daughter, Amy, lived with him. After completing his four year tour of duty, Murrell began his graphic design career with a small firm in Atlanta, Georgia. He then took a job with Olin Matheson in Brevard, North Carolina where he designed packaging for the snack industry. During this time, Murrell and Annette completed their family with the birth of their son, Paul. In the early 70’s, the family moved to New Haven, CT where Murrell worked for Olin Matheson’s Winchester Western site and did graphic design for their sporting goods industry. In the late 70’s, the family moved to Houston where he started his own design firm. Murrell was a former member of the Unitarian Fellowship and was instrumental in the refurbishment of the interiors. Murrell and Gail married in 1990 here in Houston and enjoyed a wonderful life together where he made it his purpose to blend their two families into one, and he was very proud of that accomplishment. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him The interment and military honors for Murrell will take place on Friday, January 11, 2013 at 11:30 am at Houston National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2012 at 11:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 with a reception to follow.
