Obituary of John Saludis

John Saludis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 8, 2013 at the age of 91. Born on October 18, 1921, John grew up in Beaumont, TX and Morris, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Saludis and Ida Faulk Meaux, as well as his mother-in-law, Mae H. Cameron. John is survived by Arvilla Saludis, his wife of 64 years, daughter Debbie Jamison and husband, Bill, grandson Trevor Jamison, brother-in-law Wayne Cameron and wife Sharon, and sister-in-law Josephine Alobaidi, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
John was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific. He was a sales manager, working at the Houston Post and Houston Chronicle for nearly 20 years, and participated in the Chronicle’s Goodfellows charity for more than a decade. John was a kind, soft-spoken man who was always willing to help others in their time of need. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service that is inspiring and unforgettable to those whose lives he touched.
A visitation for John will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Joiner officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
