Obituary of Cheryl Mattson Boyd

Cheryl Mattson Boyd, 66, passed away on February 19, 2013. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lucille Mattson; and daughter, Lori Purcell. Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Larry L. Boyd; sons, Derek R. Boyd, and his wife, Carrie, Trenton D. Boyd, and his fiancée Sarah Diaz; brother, Arthur J. Mattson and his wife, Patricia; grandchildren, Bailey Boyd, Lacey and Shelby Haveman, Shayne Purcell; two great-grandchildren; niece, Jennifer Mattson; a large extended family in both the U.S. and Canada; and a host of other family and friends. Cheryl was a native Houstonian and graduated from Milby High School in the class of 1964. She attended the University of Houston for two years, and then decided to work in retail. In 1968, Cheryl joined Continental Airlines-Reservations, and continued her career at Continental for 33 years, spending the last 18 years in International Sales Accounting. A devoted wife and mother, Cheryl was also an ardent supporter of the Humane Society and loved and cherished the family’s three dachshunds. She was a longtime member of the United Garden Club of Houston. Her love for gardens extended to her home where she sought out, planted and raised antique roses. Cheryl will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A memorial service for Cheryl will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 10:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.
