Dr. Donald L. Mullett grew up in New York City. He was the youngest of four children born to Festus and Josephine Mullett on April 10, 1929. He entered into eternal rest on April 19, 2013. Family values were important for him. He talked about how lovingly strict his father was and how his mother could stretch a dollar during the Great Depression. All of this, he said, helped him appreciate the blessings and good fortune he attained in life. Higher education of the Mullett children was a great source of pride for their hard working parents. Donald took this charge very seriously, and eagerly lived up to his parents’ wishes. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from Lincoln University. He went on to earn a Masters of Business Administration from New York University. Donald was not satisfied with two degrees, and continued on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Economics and Fiscal Policy from the University of Delaware. Donald was a member of Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church, In New York City, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. He enjoyed both Jazz music and reading about its history. He had and extensive music library and amassed over 2000 cd’s of many great Jazz artists, his favorite artist was of course, Duke Ellington. He is survived by his wife, Mildred, daughters Barbara Louise Mullett, Donna Marie Mullett-King; Stepchildren Lisa James and David James, and four grandchildren: Courtney and Monica King and Mikaela and Shelbi James; a nieces Lynne Owens and Diane Gooden House, nephews Warren Gooden and Vaughn Peterson and great nieces Kelli and Shelli Owens , Lauren Jones, and Mulea Wambua and great nephews Amon and Brandon Gooden , Jamal Johnson and Brandon House. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to: Presidential Scholarship Fund Lincoln University, Lincoln University, 1570 Baltimore Pike Lincoln University, PA 19352. The funeral for Dr. Mullett will take place at Ephesus Church of Seventh Day Adventist, 101 West 123rd Street, New York, NY 10027, Tel: 212-662-563; Viewing & Quiet Hour: 10:00 a.m and Funeral: 11:00 a.m.
