Obituary of Earl Louis Young

Earl “Bill” Louis Young, 87, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dora Young; wife, Vera Young; daughter, Theresa Thurman; sister, LaMerle Dupree; and granddaughter, Amanda Thurman. Bill is survived by his sons, Glenn A. Young and wife, Betty Jo, Gordon L. Young, Troy D. Haley and wife, Kathy; daughter, Deatra Duncan and husband, Anthony; sisters, Hazel Lazerine, Freddie Mader; ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one on the way; and a host of other family and friends. Bill was a strong patriot and proud veteran that served his country in the United States Navy. He received a Bronze Star as well as a Purple Heart for his service in the Pacific. Bill was always an outdoorsman and loved to hunt. He was also a Bar-B-Que expert and everyone brought their briskets to him to cook. Bill enjoyed staying busy, working on projects, gardening and Nascar. He was affectionately known as “PaPa” to his grandchildren and loved spending time with his family whenever he could. Bill will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Rosary for Bill will be recited at 10:30 am, prior to the Memorial Service which will take place on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. Interment with military honors will be held at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
