Avito Balod Bassig, 70, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clodualdo and Leoncia Bassig; and brother, Mecio Bassig. Avito is survived by his loving wife, Lucila Bassig; son, Mark Bassig and wife, Kimberly, son-in-law, Thomas Tran; daughter, Lenianne Bassig; brothers, Tirso and Johnny Bassig; sisters, Pacencia Caranguian, Mar Atal; grandchildren, Mark Avito Bassig and Luke Alexander Bassig; and a host of other family and friends. Avito earned his degree in accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1982. He reveled in doing tax returns. Avito had a strong faith and was an active member at St. Helen Catholic Church in Pearland where he would sing his heart out as a member of the choir. He enjoyed going on family road trips across the country and cherished every opportunity he had to spend time with his family. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved playing tennis and golf. Avito always looked forward to spending time with his grandsons and granddogs, Kobe, Yashi, and Nicky. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation for Avito will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm and on Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 6:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral mass will take place on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin road, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Father James Courville officiating.
