Obituary of Erik Justin MacKenna

Erik Justin MacKenna, 40, beloved son, father, brother and uncle, passed away tragically on Sunday, January 5, 2014 while on vacation in Honduras. Erik was born on September 19, 1973 in Bellaire, Texas. He recently celebrated his 20th anniversary working for High Tech Finishing as their Assistant Plant Manager in Houston, Texas. Erik was an extraordinary individual, and tirelessly devoted himself to hard work, career, family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters, shopping, watching movies, listening to music and going to the gym. He had a passion for politics and the conservative ideals of Ron Paul. He was known for selflessly offering help to so many around him. Erik’s quick wit and sense of humor, along with his caring and gracious spirit was felt by everyone. His kindness and loyalty to those around him will be missed dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, Gregory MacKenna, his grandparents, Dollie and Joseph Roderick, and his beloved cousin, Dollie Anne Fain. Erik is survived by his mother, Marcy, and stepfather, David Weaver; daughters, Elanore Justine MacKenna and Malia Gail MacKenna; mother of daughters, Jennifer MacKenna; sisters, Katherine Allen and her husband, Dennis, Meghan Jones and her husband, Colin; nephews and niece, Connor Jones, Dylan Allen, Donovan Allen, Madison Jones, and Callum Jones; his girlfriend, Dulce Umana, and a host of other family and friends. Erik was a cherished son and brother, beloved father and uncle, and a kindhearted friend. He will be greatly missed by all and never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Erik’s honor to the Incarnate Word academy, MacKenna Scholarship Fund, 609 Crawford, Houston, Texas 77002.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, Texas 77581. A Funeral Mass for Erik will follow, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father James Courville officiating. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
