I just happened to run across Richard’s obituary last night, it was kind of a shock to see it.
I’ve known Richard for years, I knew his parents, which were really good people and why Richard turned out to be a great guy, and also David and Danny. I have a lot of memories when we ran around together. The last time I seen him, you were with him, which was at the funeral of Leonard and Billy Redman’s dad in the 80’s, you guys were living in Texas at that time too.
Though it’s late I just want you to know Richard was always a good friend whether years parted us or not, a lot of memories of him for sure, even back when we were still riding bikes. He will be greatly missed. But will live on in all the memories made with people. Gary Stanfield

Dear Debra and family. we are so sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. We met at the dealership some years ago, and fast became friends. Jack and Richard would easily joke and talk about family. Richard loved his family tremendously. Our prayers are with you and your family. It was such a pleasure knowing him. He and his smile will be greatly missed. Jack and Carol Justus

So sorry to hear about Rich’s passing. Great news that he had a strong faith so we can say “all is well”. In reading his obituary here in South Bend this morning, I called my twin brother Tim and we were reminiscing about the times in our past up and through high school, when Rich,Foster,Fackson,Tim and myself were all best friends and certainly had each others back covered. He was someone all of us knew we could count on. He really was one of a kind. Great guy. That was a really nice picture of him in the paper. We all experienced an adventuristic, mischievous, definitely gutsy, bold and brave time filled with both fun and some fright, that’s putting it nicely and mildly. Amazing how I think we all turned out to be success stories in the end. Someone could have written a best seller about our escapades. I know this is a difficult time for the entire Grunden Family. I want you to know that those of us up here in Indiana will be including you in our Prayers. Sincerely and with respect, Tom and Diana Lykowski and Family

I met Richard in 1999 when he sold me a vehicle. We have been friends ever since. I work for DPS and Richard sold lots of cars to DPS people. We have lost a true friend. Debra and Carl, you and your family are in my prayers. Richard will be missed.

Richard sold us 2 FORD trucks. We met him on the last day of Cash For Clunkers program. They extremely busy but he treated us like we were someone important. After 8 hrs we were on our way home. He was so patient and fun to be around. It was such a fun experience we didn’t realize we went in debt. He spoke of his family with such love and pride. I felt like I could call him with questions and he would give honest answers. We returned 2 yrs later to buy a second truck. Again we were there all day he worked hard to get us the best deal possible. We heard so many stories about his wife, sons, and grand children we felt like we knew them.
It was a pleasure knowing him. He was such an honest, fun, family man. We are so sorry for your loss. Peggy & Mark Gexler
