Obituary of Edith Oddetta Day Bunkley

Edith Oddetta Day Bunkley, born Oct 27, 1922, in Breckenridge, Texas passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 in Pearland, Texas after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lesley and Vela Day; son, Gary Alan Bunkley; daughter, Edith Louise Bunkley; three brothers and two sisters. Edith is survived by her husband, Thomas H. Bunkley, and her son, Thomas E. Bunkley and his wife Sue of Manvel, TX. She is also survived by one sister and two grandchildren, Randy Bunkley living in San Francisco, CA and Wendee Grubbs and her husband Gregg of Rockwall, TX. She has two surviving great granddaughters, Haley and Emma, also in Rockwall, TX. Edith worked many years as a private duty nurse in the Chicago area and later in San Diego, CA. She will be greatly missed by her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edith’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. The visitation for Edith will take place on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 11:15 am at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
