Obituary of Sonya Elaine Rangel
Please share a memory of Sonya to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sonya Elaine Rangel, 15, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 surrounded by her loving family and was an inspiration to all those around her during her courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her parents, Abraham Rangel and Rosario Zavala; brother, Jesse Anthony Zavala; grandparents, Cecilia and Refugio Zavala; and a host of other family and friends.
Sonya was very artistic and loved to draw. She was a big fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, especially Michelangelo. Sonya enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and playing volleyball. She was an excellent student, enjoyed school, and was looking forward to going to high school before her illness. Sonya always enjoyed going to her grandparents and smelling all the flowers they grew. She enjoyed running, climbing trees and playing outside but also loved spending quiet time just sitting and painting her nails. Sonya was in the process of learning to play the guitar and found great enjoyment in listening to her grandfather play for her. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
