Obituary of Weldon Martin Rogers

Weldon “Sonny” Martin Rogers, 84, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014. He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Martin; mother Lena Odell Rogers; stepfather, Jack Rogers; and sister, Bernadene Robertson. Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jackie Rogers; son, Chuck Rogers and wife, Terri; daughters, Cathy Hokanson and husband, Mark, Carol Pringle and husband, Mark; sister, Judy Rogers; grandchildren, Kris Hokanson, Michelle Pringle Frogge, Jeff Pringle, Kirstin Rogers, Jordan Hokanson; great grandchildren, Makena and Andy Hokanson; and a host of other family and friends. Sonny had a successful career at Tuboscope and was a recognized expert throughout the industry in the field of nondestructive testing of drill pipe. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pearland for many years and served as a Deacon at Sagemont Church. Sonny and Jackie enjoyed traveling throughout the country in the motor home and on many excursions around the world. Sonny was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a Pilot and enjoyed flying and working on his Beechcraft Musketeer. He was extremely gifted with his hands and could build or repair anything. Sonny was a man of great faith, was an excellent provider and a shining example to his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Memorial Service for Sonny will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 11:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Pastor Chuck McComb officiating.
