Obituary of Cheryl Adams Hawkins

Cheryl Adams Hawkins, 63, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 1, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Quinton and Mary Ware; son, Clayton Adams III; and former husband, James Hawkins. Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Candace Lovings and husband, Cedell; step-sons, Jimmie Hawkins and wife, Yvonne, Tony Hawkins and wife, Elizabeth; step-daughters, Cassandra Hawkins and husband, Chris, Cynthia Simpson and husband, James; grandchildren, Jibri, Simone, Ashton, Raelanah, Jaylin, Jamal Lauren, Tai, Dezmond, Donovan, and Jack; and a host of other family and friends. Cheryl was a vivacious person who truly loved life. She was a registered nurse for over 35 years and was with the Veterans Administration Hospital in San Antonio for 31 of those years. Cheryl was a devoted mother and grandmother and tried to teach all around her to live life to the fullest. She was a wonderful cook and always looked forward to opportunities to cook for her family and friends. Affectionately known as “Grandma Cheryl,” she loved all of her children and grandchildren alike. Cheryl was a big animal lover and loved her pet Schnauzer, “Sebastian.” She will forever be remembered for her shopping, trying new foods and her love of life. Cheryl will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A Memorial Service for Cheryl will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10:00 am at Lewis Funeral Home, 8111 S.
