Obituary of Elena M. Yzquierdo

Elena M. Yzquierdo, 85, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Marcelina Martinez; husband, Raul Yzquierdo; brother, Fabien Martinez; sisters, Josefina Arellano and Ana Martinez. Elena is survived by her sons, Raul Yzquierdo, Roberto Yzquierdo, and wife, Grace; daughters, Rosa Elena Lam and husband, Daniel, Maria Teresa Erlewein, Yolanda Yzquierdo; brother, Juan Antonio Chavira; sisters, Heriberta Briones, Maria Fuentes; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; her beloved dog, Sam; and a host of other family and friends. Elena was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother and sister who dedicated her life to her family. She was a very giving person to her family, friends and church family. Elena loved caring for her roses in the garden, scrabble and board games with the grandchildren, and knitting different things for the family. She enjoyed traveling all over to visit her family and friends. Elena was a strong and faithful Christian that served as the inspiration and example to all of her family. She often times could be found assisting her friends in the neighborhood with their English to obtain their citizenship. Elena was a dedicated and loving wife to Raul Sr. for 24 years and after his death, she continued to dedicate her life to her grandkids who affectionately knew her as “Grandma”, “G Ma” or “G.G.”. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. A Visitation and service for Elena will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and the service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Roy Guel officiating. An interment will take place on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
