Obituary of Nathan Ryan Wood
Please share a memory of Nathan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nathan Ryan Wood, 25, passed away March 10, 2015. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, James Wood. Nathan is survived by his parents, David and Lisa Wood; grandparents, Marilyn Wood, Bobby and Alice Jarvis; sisters, Leah and Carley Wood; and a host of other family and friends.
Nathan’s love for baseball began at an early age where you would always see him in the backward throwing a ball around and having his Dad hit him grounders and fly balls. That love affair with baseball carried with him throughout his life as he played Little League, High School and Select Ball. His accomplishments in baseball led to him earning a College Scholarship to play the game he so loved in College. For those that knew him his lifelong obsession with the St. Louis Cardinals was obvious, as he would talk to you about every player that ever played for the Cardinals and would dissect every game if you wanted him to. After playing ball for two years he decided that he wanted a “college life” so he transferred to Texas State University where he graduated with a History Degree. His true passion for “helping others” took root as he obtained his teaching certificate and began his teaching career – teaching 5th grade at Hubenak Elementary School. He so loved teaching his kids and challenging them to be the best they could be each and every day. Nathan will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nathan’s honor to the Hubenak Elementary School Parent Teacher Association at 11344 Rancho Bella Parkway, Richmond, Texas 77046.
