Shana Appel posted a condolence
Sunday, February 22, 2009
I am Brian’s Homeroom teacher at Bales Intermediate.
I wanted to say this at the funeral but I am not very good at public speaking, I am much better in front of 11 year olds.
I did not know Mr. Hitchcock, but I know his son so I feel like I know him. These words that I have to say are for you, Mr. Hitchcock, because I believe with all my heart you can hear me. I wanted to tell you what a fine young man you have raised. You need not worry about Brian, he will miss you and he will love you always and he will never forget you. Not a day will go by that he won’t think of you and what you had together. And sometimes it will be hard for him to go on without you but go on he will. Life has thrown your son a curve ball with you leaving him so early in his life but he has handled it with grace, dignity and fortitude. If I could just have one tenth of his courage, one ounce of his integrity, his strength I would be fulfilled in my life.
As I watched at the funeral I saw where your wife was getting her strength. I saw that she leaned heavily on that small eleven year old to get her through and he has yet to disappoint. He will do you proud Mr. Hitchcock, rest assured that he will do you proud and I, for one, am so privilege to have had him in my life. It was a short time but oh so special and even with the hardship of you passing I wouldn’t trade my time with your son for anything. He has been an inspiration to me during this trying time and one that I will rely on when life throws me that curve ball. You’ve done good, Mr. Hitchcock. you’ve done good. Your legacy is in good hands.
I just wanted you to know that.

Ann & Brian, first of all I want both of you to know that nothing is going to change in our relationship. I have known Eliot for 3+ years and what I have learned from spending time with him is that he would want life as we know it to keep on keepin on. He was a great friend and an even greater dad. We had so much in common like the love of baseball, fishing, cars. All of which we talked about almost every day. Well I did most of the talking, you know how I love to talk about baseball. Even though he will be missed every day, I know in my heart that he is in a better place and that he is watching out for all of us. God bless to you and Brian and to the rest of your family.
Love Tad, Melissa, Colin & Hannah

Jim Whelan posted a condolence
Wednesday, February 11, 2009
Ann and Brian,
We have never met one another, but I got to know Eliot albeit too briefly during our time together at FSG. What struck me about Eliot is that he seemed quite the gentleman, and that I am certain he was someone that family, friends, and customers all loved and trusted. I know too that he was a strong confidant and friend to Peter Thrasher, and helped Peter build the business there in Houston.
I am so very sorry for your sudden loss. Once the tears and sadness subside, warm and fond memories will take over and fill your hearts with love, pride, and consolation of having him in your life.
God Bless, and may perpetual light shine upon Eliot.
My condolensces,
Jim Whelan – Dallas

My dear big brother Eliot,
You were the first person I called at 5:00am when water was pouring in our house during Hurrricane Ike. I was scared, and you calmed me and told me houses can be fixed. You wanted to make sure we were okay. Well, we’re moving back home Sunday, and our house is fixed, but my heart is broken. You were so good to our girls and a great brother-in-law and friend to Mike. I love you and miss you, and promise to do whatever I can for Ann and Brian. We love them dearly! All my love, Laurie
