Jerry Thomas Hunt, Sr., 81, went Home to be with Jesus on Monday, December 7, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Marie Hunt; son, Jeff Hunt; and brother, Jack Hunt. Jerry is survived by his son and future daughter-in-law, Jerry Hunt Jr. and Shannon Strong; dear friend and companion, Cherryl Smith; and a host of family and friends.
Jerry grew up in the Port O’Connor area until he was 4 when his family moved to Houston. He attended school in Southeast Houston before enlisting in the United States Navy at the age of 17. Jerry served his country for four years and was a proud veteran. He came back to Houston to work in the ironworks business for nine years before starting a successful career as a car dealer that spanned more than 50 years. Jerry had a contagious spirit that allowed him to make friends with everyone he met. Many of his customers would eventually become lifelong friends. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, but as he got older he most enjoyed fishing, boating, and being with his many friends in the Port O’Connor area where he had spent much of his youth. Throughout his life, Jerry delighted in traveling all over the United States, Canada and Mexico. Jerry had a kind heart and an infectious smile. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
A Gathering and Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held Sunday afternoon, December 20th from 12 to 3 pm at Jerry Sr's home in Alvin, Texas.
