Obituary of Sybil Rose Redick

Sybil Rose Redick, 72, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Sudie Rose; her loving husband, Don Ellis; and brother, Albert Rose. Sybil is survived by her daughters, Gabrielle Rogillio and husband, Michael, Marcie O’Keefe, Faith Ellis Dimitt, Dona Marie Jackson; son, Michael P. Ellis and wife, Cyndi; brother, Alvin Rose and wife, Susan; sisters, Pearlene Robinson, Alyne Lamb, Gladys Wortham, Bernice Phipps and husband, Bill; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends. Sybil was a single mom who worked very hard to make sure she provided for her daughter, Gabby and went on to have a successful 30 plus year career with Walmart. She started as a floor clerk and helped open the first Walmart in Pearland. Sybil went on to become a Regional Manager traveling over many states and overseeing the shoe and jewelry departments for hundreds of stores. During her career, she met and married Don Ellis where they blended two families together and had loving marriage for more than 32 years. She and Don had a successful antique business here in Pearland for many years. Sybil loved her family dearly and every one of them held a special place in her heart. She was never known to be an animal lover but for some strange reason, all animals loved her. Obviously, they picked up on something through Sybil’s hard exterior that others didn’t always see. Sybil was hard-working, strong-willed, opinionated, and you always knew where you stood with her. For those that really knew Sybil, there was a kind and thoughtful lady who secretly was always doing for others. It was through these acts that she got much of the joy in her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, Sybil asked that donations be made in her honor to the local Pearland Animal Control Center for food and supplies. A Memorial Service for Sybil will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 10:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.
