Obituary of Richard Alan Skotak

Richard Alan Skotak, 71, of Pearland, Texas passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017.  He is preceded in death by his parents Chester Skotak and Dorothy Wilkinson. Left to cherish Richard’s memory is his loving wife of 25 years Sylvia B. Skotak, son Chris A. Skotak and wife Sammi, step-son David W. Turnquist, daughters; Pam M. Skotak and husband Hilton Marques, Kim A. Skotak and husband Michael Coté, step-daughter Sandra M. Turnquist; brothers, Gerald Skotak and wife Dorli, Chester Skotak and wife Lorena; sisters, Ruth Anne Dugey and husband Ted, Cathy Owen and husband Don, Linda Perry; grandchildren; Ethan Marques, Amber Skotak, Caleb Marques, Carson Skotak, Cormac Coté-Skotak, Everly Coté-Skotak; step-grandchildren; Sarah R. Dougherty, Bryan W. Turnquist, Eric M. Turnquist, , and a host of other family and friends.

Richard enjoyed gardening, vegetables and flowers. He would take the kids camping when they were young, loved fishing, hunting and anything to do with the great outdoors. Richard loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren. They called him “Papa”. He was extremely civic minded and served his community. Richard never met a stranger, he could walk into a crowded party and know everyone by the end of the night. He was very successful in the real estate business and well respected. Richard was the go to person in the office when someone had a question about anything, commercial or residential.

Visitation for Richard will be held Monday, November 20, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.  The funeral mass will take place Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2209 Old Alvin Rd., Pearland, Texas 77581 with Father Richard Hinkley officiating.  Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
