A year later, and I just learned of Charles' passing. I'm so sorry...Charles was a tremendous person and we were privileged to work together at the City of Pasadena back in the mid 80's. He was the kindest gentleman, and his love for God as well as his love for others, was evident in all that he did. He is the kind of person this world needs more of. God bless Sally and all of his family.

My deepest condolences,
I had the great pleasure of working with Mr. Shoemaker during my deployment to Bahrain last year. A true professional and great person with a work ethic that would rival anyone. He trained me in several aspects of environmental safety, the lessons helped me greatly and I will pass them on to others I work with.

My deepest sympathy is with the family and friends of Charles at this time. The news was no less than a big shock for me; it was like I woke up on a holiday morning to hear the worst, something none of us had ever expected. At times I would be tired of the hard work but Charles would never relax until the task is done. This is to let you all know that Charles would always be in my thoughts and actions especially when I am at work. He was an ultimate hero and role model who always inspired me to reach new heights, opened new channels of learning and knowledge for me. I always admired his hard work, patience, magnanimity and simplicity which has left a great impact on our personal and professional lives. His fair, honest and supportive attitude kept all the team members bonded and motivated.
Personally, his sudden death is a huge loss for me – personally and professionally. No soul can replace Charles and no words can describe my deepest and sad feelings of this loss. "

Please accept my deep condolence to your family and loved ones. Charles was my mentor and friend here in Bahrain. Whenever I have a bad day, the best thing to do is to have a talk with my friend Charles. We could talk for hours and one thing is for sure after our conversation is that my day wasn't all that bad. I am very lucky to have known Charles.
You and your family are on my prayers.

My condolences to the family of Charles. He will be missed and never forgotten. We had many personnel conservations and he was always an inspiring ear when I needed advise or just someone to vent with.
I will certainly miss exercising and walking with him. I thought I was in good shape but walking a few miles with I ended up doing a slow jog to keep up. Charles has inspired to keep pushing myself and learning all that I can in many things.
We had many conversations since he was a paramedic and firefighter and I was a police officer in Tennessee and Texas so we had many stories to share. He is in a good place and we have an angel looking down on us so, he is still with us in a since.
Again missed in physical presence but in my heart he is there never forgotten. God bless us all.

I worked in Iraq with Mr. Charles Shoemaker for many years, and I am currently working in Djibouti Africa on a KBR BOSS contract, and occasionally speak to him on the DSN phone line. It was an honor to have known such a great person. Truly sorry to hear of the loss of Charles. Please accept my condolences and may my prayers help comfort you and your family during this painful time. When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now.

Dear Sally,
Please accept our wishes for peace and healing for you and your loving family. Charles was a magnificent person and a legendary bearer of kindness and goodness for all of us that knew him. I had the honor to work with him and had many conversations about life family, safety, faith and living away from home. The world has lost a truly wonderful man.

Sally, Rachel, Emily and Becca, I am so sorry for your loss. Words can not express my true sorrow. I only met Charles one time, but the short time I spent with Charles combined with the family I know prove to me that he was a great man. I've heard many wonderful stories about Charles and know that Heaven gained a magnificent angel when the Lord brought Charles home.
