Larry and I shared an office and a great friendship for many years. For a number of years we were a team and you wouldn’t see one of us without the other. Larry was always bigger than life, figuratively and literally, and we will all miss him terribly.

I met Larry when I first came to Exxon. He was one of my best friends among the many others. He was always willing to help me with technical questions and issues. I could call him in the middle of the night with any technical problem and he would always be there willing to help. We also shared the Aviation Hobby. We loved to exchange and talk our flying experiences with each other. We also shared the love for Yorkie Dogs.
Larry will truly be missed. Our prayers go out to his family.

Will miss Uncle Larry. I always considered him the quiet one. But even so, he holds a large part of my respect, love and fondness for his unwavering character, large heart and over whelming compassion since the passing of his sister (my Mom, Joyce) toward me and my sister. I am thankful to have known him. Will miss his wit, and humor too!

I met Larry at his and my first job at Exxon in Telecommunication/Data, way back in 1980. He was a good mentor and friend. Seems most of my pictures of him are at Exxon eating events, including his retirement! Sure enough, we did some work in between! Good memories!

Our family sends our love and sympathy to the Boyd family. We have such wonderful memories of our Mattson reunions and visits to Houston. Larry and Cheryl were always welcoming and spread their love and kindness to all who came in contact with them. Big hugs and lots of laughter abounded in their presence. Both Larry and Cheryl will be lovingly missed and remembered with a smile. They both left us too soon. We send our hugs and thoughts in this sad time...love Brenda, Collette & Joyce Mattson in Alberta.

Larry was and is love for others. Love for my husband Denton, his cousin, love for me from the time I came into this wonderful family, love for our daughter Mindy (Roll Tide!), and love for our son Daniel, whom Larry affectionately first called "Buddy" the day he was born. The nickname stuck around the family and always carries with it a sweet reminder of Larry. Our dearest love to all those who are left to cherish his memory. Kelly, thank you for coming into his life, for loving him as he loved you and others, and for caring for him so faithfully and sacrificially. Derek and Trent, your Dad lives on in you. You are both marked with strong character, commitment to family, excellent work ethic, and true love for others. Dianne and Vonna, such love between siblings is beautiful to witness. Larry lives on in you as you continue to lead our family with love, just like Larry. We lift all of you in prayer. We thank God for each of you and for Larry.
