My sincerest condolences for all the family and the Tostado family. I know you may remember my grandparents Pasion and Jose Antonio Alvarez, my mom and dad were Tony & Mary Alvarez, we lived in Pearland when you all lived in Friendswood. I remember Daniel, Diana, Gloria, Marthita, Ernest, Evangelina & Little Joe.
My mother Mary Alvarez, sends her condolences also. We remember so vividly going to Friendswood when we were small and all of you were so nice to my Tia Eva, grandma and grandpa. I loved your mom's cheese she use to make.
We want to express our sympathy and let you know that our thoughts are with you.

Some of my favorite memories of Daniel go back to when he and I would man the barbecue pit at the ranch on Sundays. We would arrive not having any plan, only to find out that Daniel Sr. had bought 40 lbs of chicken for us to cook and then sausage.
It would take quite a few adult beverages, but we were always up for the task!
Then when Daniel and Janice moved close to us in Fairfield, they became our regular Friday night dinner companions. Great memories.
I met Daniel when he moved back to Houston from Washington, when Danny and Jeff were small. We instantly hit it off and I will always treasure the brother-in-law relationship we had. We watched as our children grew up together on all of those family get-togethers. To Janice, Danny, Jeff, and Esteban and all the grand-kids: We grieve your loss tremendously, but we also know that Daniel is now laughing, telling jokes, and being the consummate host that we all loved, again.
Godspeed old buddy.

I first met Daniel on our first day of grade school at Friendswood Elementary on or about September 1, 1950. He became my compadre over the years and there were so many adventures, parties, sports, band, choir - a whole growing up's worth in a small town. The good times we had riding horses and parties at his home on the Delta L were terrific. His dad always entertaining and his mother always the gracious hostess and such a wonderful cook.
I remember one band trip to Corpus Christi where he, Ann Thornburg and I ended up on a carnival ride one evening and we all almost got thrown out of the "bucket" we were spinning around in. We won't go into the times we painted the Coward's Creek bridge or "other locations" with "FHS Sr's '62', no mean feat since there were only 3 boys and 4 girls in our senior class.
We all parted company in May of 1962 at our high school graduation but kept in touch. We visited at times of reunions and at FHS functions where our children were growing up.
We visited at the Friendswood Hardware Store when I'd drop in. It was always a pleasure. I'll miss him. But I am convinced that there will be one more "Hello" and that this will be our last goodbye. Adios, Compadre.mdb
