Obituary of Walter Schmidt

Walter Schmidt December 17, 1942 - September 17, 2015 Walter Schmidt of LaPorte, passed from this earth on September 17, 2015. He was born on December 17, 1942 in Galveston, Texas. Raised in Galveston and Galena Park, he graduated from Galena Park High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for two years as a torpedo man in the submarine service. He retired from Sonoco in 2003. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Brenda Rieves Schmidt; Brother John Schmidt, III and wife Susan of Martindale, Texas and Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; Daughter Marlene Jalilvand and husband Abdy; Granddaughters Hunter and Laila Jalilvand of Peoria, Arizona. He will be buried in Hitchcock at Galveston Memorial Park alongside his father John Schmidt, II and grandparents Herbert and Maude Schmidt. Visitation will be Saturday September 19, 2015 from 12pm-1pm with services starting at 1pm at Paul U. Lee LaPorte Funeral Home. Graveside service to be held at 3pm at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.
