My heart is so sad at this news. JJ was such a good friend and many happy memories were sharing fun times with he and Patsy. A man of great wisdom, he was always there when I needed a shoulder to lean on with support and wisdom.

It seems everyone knew him as JJ but he was ALWAYS Uncle Jon to me.
He and Elsie, my mother’s sister, were married when I was growing up.
Just because he and my aunt divorced, it never diminished my admiration for him.
I’m grateful for the times that I did get to spend with him even though they were short.
I will certainly miss him.

During the years that I was Fire Marshal for the City of La Porte, I had many opportunities to be around J.J. (Mr. Mayor). He was always very polite, professional and very supportive. Even when he wasn’t Mayor of the City of La Porte, when I would see him, he always has a big smile and handshake. He always had a few minutes to talk and ask how I was doing. I am going to miss seeing him, when I come back to La Porte to visit.
