Susan posted a condolence

Walter H. Peikert was born in St. Mary's hospital in Galveston, Texas on August 21, 1955. Although Walt had a slight part in raising his children when they were young, he considered them his greatest accomplishment that he was most proud of. He spoke of them often and very fondly.
When Walt was about 7 years old Hurricane Carla devastated the island. His family moved to La Porte, bought land, had their home built, then moved to Morgan's Point. He lived there until adulthood. He lived with them off and on throughout the year. He lived with his parents for a few years before they passed away in 2004 &2005.
When his mother became bedridden, he happily helped take care of her. When his Mom had double bypass surgery, he spent a few nights in the hospital to give his sister, Susan a break.
Walt was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger he didn't like and would talk to anyone as if he'd known them his entire life.
Walt wasn't perfect, he had his faults. But, no one on this earth is perfect. He had many friends he'd spend time with. If someone needed the shirt off his back, he'd gladly give it to them. He had a huge heart.
When he was in his 40's he began drawing. He would say, "It's all in the shading." He learned how to paint on canvas with acrylic paint. His favorite is using colored pencils.
The last 10 years of his life he rented a room from Shirley in Bacliff. She was taking care of her bedridden ex-husband, Buddy and Walt was the only person besides Shirley that Buddy would let help him. Walt would help Shirley with household chores inside ot outside the home.
In 2016 Walt's sister, Susan had back surgery and her husband, Donald was working a lot of over time. Walt stayed with Susan about 3 weeks helping her recover. He did this happily. They would always watch a few weekly Christian shows together that Susan would record. He loved talking about God with Susan and confided in her he prayed nightly for God to forgive him of his sins.
There's no doubt in our mind that he's in heaven with the Lord because the Bible tells us in John 3:16......
"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have ever lasting life."
Walter told Susan when he died not to be sad because he'd be in heaven with the Lord. He wanted us to celebrate his life because now he's in no more pain, suffering or worries and he's having a bigger and better party that we could imagine with his parents, relatives and friends who passed away before he did. One day when God calls us home, we WILL see him again. Goodbye, Brother, I'll miss you every day!
