To Merri, with gratitude. Some of the things remembered:
Her emphatic opinions on mostly everything; most of them shared and enjoyed and the rest (especially restaurant reviews) not further discussed.
As omnivorous reader and defacto librarian of Cathedral Towers, she was the source of not only recommendations on what to read, but often a sender of books in the mail.
A shared interest in mainstream jazz (think Oscar Peterson for example), and for the dozens of CD’s, many obtained from her contacts at a Washington jazz radio station, that she sent, and that I still enjoy.
For rules of proper living, for example, no fruit (olives , cherries, etc) in cocktails, that we still religiously observe.
For this and much more, we remember thankfully

The picture puzzle of my life has been diminished. Two important pieces are no longer there. One was my cousin Jackie last year, and now my cousin and friend Merri that I’ve known as a neighbor, relative and friend for 82 years.
We’ve traveled to Europe and many other places. One of our favorite being the Appalachian mountains where we were born.
We ate, drank and laughed and had discussions, sometimes with opposite opinions. We respected and loved each other. I’ll stay in touch. I’m always looking up to the Appalachian heaven.
