I have known Lynda since 1959. We were 9 years old when we met in the 4th grade at Fannin Elementary in San Antonio.
She was always admired for her kindness, her ability to reach out to others and her willingness to go "above and beyond" to fulfill commitments to family, friends and jobs.
One of my favorite memories of Lynda is when we were 16....she was the first to get a driver's license. Well, Lynda would drive with two feet....the left foot poised over the break, and the right foot on the gas! I was nervous, but I figured that she knew what she was doing....afterall, she was the one with the license! I'm sure that she outgrew that.
She will be missed by all who knew her.

Lynda and I have been colleagues and friends since 1985 when she first came to work at North Lake College. Throughout our time at the college we shared both challenging and rewarding experiences as we navigated our roles in Student Services. She was the consummate professional who gained the respect of all who interacted with her. She had high standards and always acted with the utmost integrity. She truly lived by her principles.
During those years, our friendship developed and continued until the day she passed on. We were always there for each other in time of need. I was there for Lynda and Herman when they needed a
Guardian for Arielle so she could enroll in Coppell ISD prior to their new house being completed. Many years later when I needed a place to stay after I purchased a home out of state prior to my retirement, Lynda and Herman opened their home to me.
Lynda and I retired the same year, which was by design and we remained in touch a regular basis after she moved to Houston and I to Cape Cod. One of my fondest memories of Lynda is when she and Arielle came and visited me and my daughter at my home on Cape Cod. We had a wonderful time hanging out and seeing the sights and I loved seeing her joy during that visit.
Lynda is also one of the kindest, generous and most thoughtful person I know. She'd send special gifts to me and my family and most recently she sent my daughter Andrea a blanket for her baby girl that is due on April 24. The blanket arrived the day before she passed. Her thoughtfulness to my family during her last days personifies the special person she was. I will truly miss my dear friend.

Lynda, was my first boss at North Lake College when I began working there after finishing graduate school and beginning my career in Higher Education. I admired her for her grace, her beauty, both inside and out, and for her quiet strength that she always displayed to me no matter what the challenge she encountered in the office. Even when she battled health challenges, she always displayed a sense of quiet strength and faith that things would turn out okay. I found her life and model to be most encouraging to me when I faced a similar health challenge. And like the great boss that she was, she was there to remind me that things would turn out okay for me too.
I am also thankful that Lynda was a dear friend to me through the years. Even after leaving higher education and pursuing another career as a professional writer, our relationship continued in the encouraging words she always shared to let me know how much she was blessed and encouraged by my writings. Her presence in my life as I continue my writing ministry will be deeply missed but I find comfort in knowing, from the words of 2 Timothy 4:7-8 that Lynda " fought a good fight, finished her course and kept the faith" and her heavenly father is now saying " well-done."
Yes, well-done, Lynda. Well-done!

I met Lynda Edwards in August, 1988, when I joined the faculty at North Lake College in Irving, Texas, where Lynda was the lone woman of color in leadership at that time. Competent, hard-working, and almost unspeakably brave, she always demonstrated the courage of her convictions. She could be consistently counted on for wise and sober counsel. And she treated everyone with conspicuous civility. She did her work, and was universally respected both on campus, as well as in the wider Dallas community.
Our daughters grew up together in Jack & Jill, and Lynda and I were sorors. For her, faith and family were paramount. She resolutely refused to allow her health challenges to dominate her inner peace. Through all the turmoil in our world, some things endure. They are grace and mercy and goodness, all signature attributes of Lynda Bryant Edwards.
What joy she must have experienced when she entered the gates eternal and was reunited with her lost loved ones. All home with the Saints. How fortunate I was to have known such a sweet, sweet spirit. Rest in power, Soror Lynda.
