Hazel Pauline Childress, 84 of Alvin, passed away on May 20, 2012. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lillian Case; her loving husband of 63 years, Doyal Childress; son, Doyal “Buddy” Childress Jr.; one brother and four sisters. Hazel is survived by her daughters, Joy Sloan and her husband, John, Barbara Puckett; grandchildren, Sheri Ford, and her husband Kevin, Tad Childress and his wife, Jodi, Jennifer Hudman, Robert Hudman, Jay Childress and his wife Kyndra; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Hazel was a woman of very strong faith who served as an inspiration to her family her entire life. She was very involved in her children’s activities while they were growing up and even served as a Girl Scout leader. As a member of the Beeville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Hazel served as the “Go To” person whenever anyone needed assistance. Her caring nature was present in everything she did; from helping others to always being available to lend an ear to listen. She was affectionately known as “Granny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hazel will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A visitation for Hazel will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the funeral home at 10:00 am with Rayford Welch officiating. Interment will follow at Alvin Cemetery.
