Bobbye was born on March 15, 1934 in Houston, Texas and resided in the Houston area throughout her life. The Barrier family moved to Brookside Village, just outside of Pearland, in 1963 and has been proud Brookside residents since that time. Bobbye was a truly devoted wife and mother. She completely enjoyed and dearly loved her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing the triumphs of her family and reserved plenty of time to brag to her friends. Bobbye, or “MaMaw” as the grandchildren called her, was truly a proud, proud woman. She spared no expense when protecting her family and showing love to them. As a friend, to know her was to love her! Bobbye made it a great priority in her life to share the love of Christ with others by loving others the way that Christ loves us. She gave sacrificially to the community throughout various church experiences over her lifetime and was there to contribute to anyone in need. Bobbye, Herb, and kids were long time members of First Baptist Church, Pearland, and later members of Brookside Baptist Church and currently New Hope Church. She had strong patriotism and was very proud of her country. Bobbye was a visual representation of a prideful citizen when she stood and saluted any time that a flag was near. She created packages to send to troops stationed over seas and enjoyed volunteering with the Military Moms of Brazoria County. Bobbye was also a great cook and talented cake decorator. She loved her bridge buddies: the Monday Group, the Tuesday Group, and the Wednesday night players. Those ladies shared a special bond. She was a gifted writer and an avid reader. But, give her five minutes notice and she was ready to go! She loved to travel. Bobbye will be fondly remembered, deeply missed and treasured by all who knew and loved her. Visitation for Bobbye will be on Saturday, July 25, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home. The Funeral Service is on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Clayton Chapel.
