Obituary of Robert Fred Young

Robert Fred Young, 70, passed away on November 19, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha Young; and sister, Betty Jean Young. Bob is survived by his loving wife, of 49 years, Connie Young; son, Robert young and wife, Jennifer; daughters, Beth Young and Carey Svensson and her husband, Chris; brother, W. Michael Young and wife, Regina; sisters, Beverly Wyatt and husband, Ed, Becky Day and husband, Gary, Beth Watt; grandchildren, Zack Granthan, Lauren Clayton, Hanna and Elin Svensson, Christian and Nicole Young; and a host of other family and friends. Bob was on the staff at Indiana University during the 1981 Men’s Basketball championship. He was an active member of the Pearland Church of Christ. Bob loved genealogy and studying Civil War history. Of his many hobbies, Bob even owned a race car and won the Rookie of the Year award at the age of 50. His greatest accomplishment however, was being a father and grandfather. He was affectionately known to all of them by many different names, from Grandpa to Gump to Papooh. Bob loved his family dearly and cherished every moment he had with them. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation for Bob will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Mike Ross officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
