Roger and I lost contact after high school but he was certainly one of my closest friends at Ottawa Hills. His acumen was truly exceptional. Everything came so easy to him. The last time I saw Roger was at our class reunion in 2008. It was obvious to me from our conversation that he accomplished so much both professionally and personally. I wish I kept in contact with him. Last week, out of pure curiosity, I googled some high school friends with whom I lost touch and learned of this tragic news. I am devastated. Please let me know how I can help his family. Can't imagine what it's like to outlive a child and to have 3 children who will be raised without their father. So sorry for the entire family. Jeremy Peskoff.

I am very shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Roger's passing and while so young. I was Roger's TA for Biomedical Electronics in 1997-98. I remember him as a smart, sharp person with a quirky sense of humor, which was well-hidden behind a cool persona. I could never tell if he was being serious or funny. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends and to all those who benefited from his work.

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the McNichols family with the passing of Roger. I was a graduate student of his father (Ph.D. Committee) at Texas A&M University and really did not know the younger Roger. I can see that he was a very accomplished engineer and a great father.

Roger was a pioneer in medical device innovation. His laser ablation work has begun to change and improve the lives of epilepsy patients in Tucson and around the country. We worked well together in the early stages of applying his innovations in epilepsy surgery on patient care. His work will impact lives for decades to come. I will miss Roger’s confidence and creativity. He has left our patients a great legacy.

Roger was a great friend and colleague. He traveled back to College Station every year to lecture to the Biomedical Engineering Entrepreneurship class, and his lectures were delivered with great skill and a good dose of humor. He touched so many lives with his great work. He will be missed by his colleagues back here at A&M. Our best condolences to the family.

While it is so hard to put into words and express my own thoughts for your family’s loss, I feel it would be yet another tragedy to just stand by idly and not say a word. Although I had not seen Roger for many years, I was always able to keep up with what he was doing through my good friendship with Bill. Roger’s accomplishments, his contributions to society, and what he strived for are truly amazing. He was and he will always be a fantastic and inspiring individual; I am proud to have known him.
