Obituary of Roger Joseph McNichols

Roger Joseph McNichols, 42, passed away on December 3, 2012. He is survived by his parents, Roger and Patricia McNichols; his loving wife of 14 years, Alicia McNichols; sons, Coby and Chris McNichols; daughter, Meredith McNichols; brother, Bill McNichols; mother and father in-law, Katy and Tony DiNovo; and a host of other family and friends. Roger was a great father and provider for his family. He was an alumnus of Ohio State University and received his Ph.D. in Bio-Medical Research from Texas A&M University. He was the part owner of BioTex, Inc. and Visualase, Inc which received the DeBakey Life Sciences award. Roger’s research and developments helped countless patients suffering from cancer as well as epilepsy. He had many gifts and talents that were inspirational to those around him. Roger was also very devoted to his family and enjoyed teaching his children how to waterski, spending time fishing or going on fun family vacations. He loved music and played in several bands, and he could play a variety of instruments. Roger enjoyed building or working on projects around the house and with his mechanical mind, he could fix anything, and you can bet he had the tool to do it. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A Visitation and Rosary for Roger will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 2:00 until 5:00 pm with the Rosary recited at 4:30 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The Funeral Service will take place on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 6502 County Road 48, Manvel, TX 77578 with Father David Zapalac officiating. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Pearland, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s honor to the McNichols Childrens College Fund, with checks mailed to 8058 El Rio Street, Houston, Texas 77054.
