Please share a memory of Terri to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Terri Walker Keir went to be with her King on Wednesday, March 27th, 2013. She was born in Texas City, TX on July 19, 1930 to parents Mary Ellon (Davis) Walker and Otis Walker. She was born in Texas City, TX, moved to Cabanal, AR and graduated high school in Berrryville, AR, after which she returned to the Houston area. Preceding her in death were her parents, Otis and Mary Ellon (Davis) Walker and four brothers. On February 12th of 1954 she married Howard Wallace Keir. Together, for more than 59 years, they experienced the changing scenes of life in the joyous and fruitful companionship, which the Lord had entrusted to them. The consummate mother and homemaker, Terri was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. As an original health food aficionado, she baked bread with organic ingredients, and prepared pan seared venison back-strap for breakfast before sending her children off to school! To this day, her daughters are still attempting to replicate the famous and delicious “Terri Keir pound cake.” She had an unwavering faith in God. Along with her husband, Howard, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Bellaire, TX. Howard and Terri were married in this church and remained committed to their church and community for over 50 years. As a devoted Christian, she incorporated scripture into everyday life in the home, both teaching and reminding us that there is a chapter in Proverbs for each day of the month! Beloved survivors include her husband Howard Wallace Keir; daughters, Nanette Smith and husband Kirk, Jennifer Keir-Garza and husband Richard, Brenda Peters and husband James; also by grandchildren Melissa Clark and husband Michael; Portia Smith; Gabrielle, Alexander and Miguel Garza, Keirnan and Jordyn Peters and great-grandchild Cameron Clark. She is also survived by brothers, Otis Walker and wife, Elna, Dr. Richard Walker and wife, Bea, Wayne Walker and wife, Marty, Randall Walker and wife, Mikee, Andy Walker and wife, Elaine; sisters, Sue Cisco and Bootsie Keltner and husband, Lowell. Christian friends, brothers and sisters, are indeed the most meaningful gifts of life. The Keir family wishes to thank the people that have assisted her in providing excellent care these last few years. Today we rejoice in the knowledge that she has passed the barrier of time as we know it and is forever at home with the Savior she so faithfully served. “And the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing to Zion; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads, they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away” (Isaiah 51:11). “Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them” (Revelation 14:13). A funeral service for Terri will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10:00 am at Crosspoint Church, 4601 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, Texas 77401 with Mr. Robert Black officiating. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
