As a young girl Mary played on the Girl’s Basketball team with her older sister, Effie. She moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1957 where she gave birth to her first child, Jacqueline. A couple of years later Mary moved to Houston, TX where she worked odd jobs & raised her family. Mary later graduated from Beauty School & began her professional hairstyling career in the 1960’s until she finally & reluctantly retired in 2007/2008. She very much enjoyed being her own boss. Mary loved spending time with her family, cooking, Frenchy’s and baking cakes & pies. Her yellow cake with the chocolate frosting was an all-time favorite & often requested. Holidays were a special time where her home was a frequent gathering place. Mary also especially enjoyed spending countless hours talking with her mom, Rosetta & siblings. One only need to contact Mary & could get the updates on almost the entire family. Mary loved her soap operas which she called “Her Stories”. With her contagious laugh & positive outlook on life there were always some words of wisdom & encouragement that could apply to any situation. She was a happy woman who loved being a member & faithfully attending her church. Mary will truly be missed by her loved ones.
