Janice Johnson Henrickson, 71, of Pearland, TX, passed away, 10 Nov, 2013, with her family by her side. Jan was born to the late Cecil and Lorene Johnson, Sept 27, 1942, in Mereta, TX. At age 16, she graduated from Lakeview High School in San Angelo, TX in 1959 and at age 19 received a BA in music education from Texas State University in 1962. Jan married Daniel Walker of Texas City, TX in 1963 and had two children: Daniel Scott Walker and Jennifer Hope Walker. Jan was a music teacher with Pasadena Independent School District for 21 years, until receiving a MS in Counseling from the University of Houston, Clear Lake. Jan continued her career in education as an elementary school counselor until retirement in 2004. She dedicated her career to children’s education and was determined to make a difference in each life she touched. Jan was a devoted member of 49 years to her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, since pledging in Texas City in 1964. She was also a faithful, longtime member of Sagemont Church. Jan married Bruce Henrickson in 1999 and upon retirement became an avid golfer. She spent her fondest retirement days at the Golfcrest Country Club course with Bruce and a community of friends. She was a proud coordinator and volunteer for nine years at the Shell Houston Open. As a result, she was honored with the “Make A Difference” award in 2013. Jan is survived by her husband, Bruce Henrickson and two children: Daniel Scott Walker of Pearland, TX and Jennifer Hope Walker of Alexandria, VA. Jan’s daughter in law is Khristey Walker. Jan is survived by her four beautiful granddaughters: Brooke Walker, Kendall Walker, Madeline Walker, and Grace Walker. Her two great-grandchildren are Hayden Hassler and Isaac Burgamy. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Hultquist and brother, Cecil B. Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association. A service will be held for friends and family at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Clayton Funeral Home, located at 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581 with Pastor Rex Forsyth officiating.
